Welcome to Monty's Foundation
Monty's Foundation {hospice}will become a place where children with life limiting illnesses and their families can stay to receive rest and medical care in a home-like environment. Care at Monty's hospice will include: symptom and / pain management making the most of the time a child and family have together, empowering and supporting the children's families in decision making processes, ensuring the child and family are linked into the services and resources they need, including counselling and bereavement support.
Types of Care
Families come to Monty's Respite Hospice for:
Respite care:
The intermittent, temporary care of eligible children and their families. Rural and remote families will be able to stay at Monty's respite hospice together or children can receive respite on their own with our team of professionals.
End-of-life care:
Monty's Respite Hospice aims to provide a comfortable, supportive environment with trained staff as an alternative to the home or hospital. The plan is to accept admissions 24-hours a day.
The foundation plans to build accommodation for family members to stay with their child at this stage in an adjoining suite.
Equipment Resource centre:
Monty's Foundation has established an equipment loan system. Please see the home page tag {on right side / Equipment and medical aids} for full details.

1.To provide temporary respite care in earlier phases of such illnesses to give families a much needed respite and support
2. To provide support for families as the child's condition progresses.
3. To provide end-of-life care according to the family's needs.
4. To provide bereavement support and referrals to counselling when required.

History of Monty's Foundation
Monty's Foundation/ Monty's Respite hospice association INC. {IA36746} the foundation was formed on 10th June 2008 in loving memory of Montenna Gillian Wendt. It has been developed to assist children with a terminal illness and their families living in rural Queensland to care in the form of respite and emotional support.
